Audiovisual Translation

Subtitles, dubbing scripts, and video content — adapted, not just translated.

Line Translations — Pachino, Syracuse, Sicily — All services delivered digitally

Subtitles are one of the most constrained forms of translation. Every subtitle must be readable at the pace the content plays. Reading speed limits apply. Characters per line limits apply. Line break positions affect comprehension. A subtitle translator who does not account for these constraints produces something that is technically a translation and practically unusable.

We handle subtitle files in SRT, VTT, ASS, and WebVTT format. We adjust timing where the translation length requires it. We observe the reading speed conventions of the target platform (Netflix and broadcast television have different standards, for example, and we work to whichever applies to your project).

Beyond subtitles, we produce dubbing and voice-over scripts. These require a different approach: the translated script needs to match the on-screen speaker’s lip movements or at minimum fit comfortably in the available time. We work with voice-over studios and provide scripts formatted for the recording process.

Our clients include corporate training departments who need internal video content in multiple languages, e-learning platform operators, documentary producers, and cultural institutions with archival video requiring subtitle translations for international audiences.

In practice

A Sicilian food documentary producer needed Italian subtitles for an English-language version submitted to a streaming platform. The platform’s technical subtitle specification (47 characters per line, maximum 17 characters per second) was followed throughout. Accepted by the platform with no revision requests.
A Naples-based e-learning company needed 12 hours of Italian training content subtitled into English and Spanish for international corporate clients. Completed over three weeks. Both subtitle files were integrated into the LMS without issues.
