Line Translations was founded in Pachino in 2019 by Carmela Amato. The agency specialises in six translation disciplines for Italian businesses, researchers, and individuals.
Carmela Amato began her translation career at Catania University, where she worked as a research translator on EU-funded comparative law projects. The work covered Italian, English, French, and German legal texts and required both linguistic accuracy and subject-matter understanding. She saw at close range how academic translation was handled by most institutions: with the assumption that fluency is sufficient, and without specialist assignment.
After five years at the university, Carmela moved to a Rome consultancy handling European affairs work, which added regulatory and institutional translation to her expertise. She returned to Sicily in 2019 and founded Line Translations specifically to address what she saw as a gap: a professional agency covering specialist translation disciplines, based in a part of Italy where such services were scarce.
The agency operates entirely digitally from Pachino, serving Sicilian businesses, Italian clients nationally, and international clients who need certified translation into Italian. The six service areas cover what Carmela observed as the most common real-world translation needs: urgent documents, academic and research work, audiovisual content, patents, immigration procedures, and e-commerce.
